ABOUT ABOUT

Join Technical.ly and Linode for an evening of networking, with a conversation on transitioning into the tech industry.

You might have heard that Linode, leading cloud services provider headquartered in South Jersey, is expanding to Philly. While the finishing touches are being put on their new space on N3rd Street in Old City (due by early 2018), they wanted to meet more of you in the local tech communities, including potential Linodians to fill that beautiful office.

Have you been interested in joining the tech sector but don’t exactly know to do it? Linode is in the unique position of routinely hiring people with basic Linux knowledge and an aptitude to learn and turning them into IT pros. They look for people with great soft skills and writing ability, an interest in customer service and IT, and then provide all of the necessary training for them to become standout technical support staff.

That fits right in line with the interests of Technical.ly, the local tech news site that cares about growing tech companies and how Philadelphians can support and benefit from that growth.

We will be mixing up a night of networking and mingling with the Linode crew with a panel of people who have been there, done that, and successfully transitioned into careers in technology or into the tech sector. Coming from backgrounds varying from social work to law, they will have a lot to share about their journeys, with plenty of time for questions.

So join us at the Painted Bride with delicious food and local brews to see what Linode is up to and chat about tech, customer service, and maybe even find a new career path!

Schedule:

  • 5-6pm: Hang out, grab some food and meet the Linode Team!
  • 6-6:40pm: Tech Transitions Panel-- Hear from four panelists about how they transitioned into technical roles or the tech industry
  • 6:40-8pm:  More networking
